About this wallpaper
Late October belongs to the in-between hours. The evenings arrive early, the rain turns cold, and the last ferry of the night becomes a small promise of home. This piece imagines that moment as something you might find tucked in a coat pocket: a matchbook from a harbor café that no longer exists, its cover pressed with a moon that still catches the light.
The composition borrows the patience of shin-hanga printmakers, with their gradated waters, solitary figures and weather made visible as line. It then lets that tradition pass through a cyber-noir lens. The moon is not painted but foiled, so its reflection behaves like chrome on a wet street, fracturing into ribbons that tremble down the frame. The vermilion lantern is the only warm note, a pinpoint of welcome in the dark.
On a night so close to the year's darkest turn, it feels right to hold something small and luminous. Let the deep black rest your eyes, and let the silver remind you that even the longest wait is lit from somewhere.
